Maca is the common name for the plant Lepidium meyenii. ‘Maca root’ refers to the root of this plant and has historically been grown in Peru. As a supplement the dried Maca root is turned into a powder which can then be mixed into smoothies and other beverages.
Maca is also known as Peruvian ginseng because it contains ‘macaïnes’, a group of specific substances (Isothiocyanate) which have a stimulating effect on body and mind. Such as stimulating and increasing sexual performance.
It has traditionally been used as an aphrodisiac as it can notably increase libido.
Maca is an “Adaptogen”: This means that Maca increases adaptability in adverse conditions like: momentary stress, workload, foreign germs, cold, heat, aging and radiation pressure. It may also reduce the symptoms of menopause, particularly those related to mood, but also possibly hot flashes
Maca supports you at work, during sex, study and in sport.
A two week supplementation of 3gr to 7gr daily is considered a boost dosage. But a standard daily supplemental dose for Maca is 1gr to 3gr.
