Sceletium tortuosum – Kanna

Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) has been used by South African pastoralists and hunter-gatherers as a mood-altering substance from prehistoric times. The traditionally prepared dried Kanna was often chewed and the saliva swallowed, but it has also been made into capsules, teas and tinctures. It has also been used as a snuff or it can be smoked.

Kanna cause elevated mood and decreases anxiety, stress and tension. The plant is not hallucinogenic, contrary to some literature on the subject, and no adverse effects have been documented. According to some anecdotal reports Kanna may potentiate the euphoriant effects of cannabis

How To Take Kanna

Currently studies using Kanna have used the brand name Zembrin® at doses of 8-25mg prior to cognitive testing. This brand name is a 2:1 concentration of Kanna based on dry weight and is considered equivalent to 16-50mg of the dry weight of the plant itself.

Kanna has been studied as oral administration (capsules) but traditionally the Kanna have been chewed and saliva swallowed for similar effects.

Got the A-Stock quality and I have to admit it’s one of the best kanna I received, I do not know the B-Stock, but my order of kanna from Gaiana was one of the best kanna I received. I recommend the A-Stock!

One of the best Sceletium´s I´ve had. Has a somehow more “fresh” smell (the nearest description I can give is “earthy-spice with salty coast-wind”) than many other kinds of Kanna which are often very “dusty”.
Also the “aromatic effect” is very good, uplifting and mood enhancing, not “dizzy” as some of the other Kanna I bought from elsewhere.

I am soooo surprised,
actually thought it´s not a good qualtiy because of the low pric, but it´s definatly not!
Highly recommended – also good is a little gift, 1 gram would be 15 cents and everybody will love it! ;)
