Who We Are

Welcome to Gaiana.nl

We are a small and dynamic company based in the Netherlands which is dedicated to the relationships that exist between peoples and plants, also know as Ethnobotany. We are officially online since 2012, but our roots go way back and have it’s origin in a small dutch online ethnobotanical community. Members of this community shared, learned and exchanged their knowledge of plants and their traditional uses, creating a vast source of information and a network of suppliers which formed the foundation of the shop you are visiting today.

Behind Gaiana there is a small team with a rich knowledge of botany, biology, chemistry, cultural and traditional aspects of plants. The result of a devotion to the plants of our interest.

We believe that nature offers a diversity of plants with potent properties that are beneficial to the population in order to maintain and support a healthy lifestyle and cultural development. As we nowadays simply seem to forget that through plants nature offers an ancient source of information which we can access.

Genesis 1 – In Plants We Trust –

Through our shop we offer a small and specific selection of plants and plant-parts in which we have faith, a product selection based on our own experience. Our philosophy is to offer the plants and plant-parts “as is”, in the way they can be found in nature and let them speak for themselves.

We buy many of our products straight from the source, doing business directly with the farmers and suppliers in the country of origin, without a middleman. Only this way we can guarantee an optimum freshness and product quality. We like to stay loyal to suppliers that have proven a consistent quality in service and product, creating a close relationship that forms trust, which is the foundation of an international business. We like to support ethical and sustainable harvest, as well as the local community.

The relationship and responsibility towards our customers is our utmost concern! We test and identify every batch we receive to make sure the product we offer is legitimate. The key is to only sell a product we ourselves would like to receive. If you received a product from us and you are not satisfied or it doesn’t match your expectations, we will be more than happy to take it back, no matter the reason, we are convinced of our own products.

Through these plants and our shop we are able to connect cultures, making the world a smaller place and letting people get in touch again with the beauty of our precious nature.
