Description
Description
Latin name: Shorea robusta
Also know as: Indian Dammar, Sal Dammar, Damar gum, damar, Mata kucing, Batu, cat’s eye
Origin: India
Indian Dammar is used as an astringent in Ayurvedic medicine and burned as incense in Hindu ceremonies. As incense it is known to lift sadness and melancholy. Its aroma is light and uplifting, it lifts the user up and brings a feeling of safety, clarity, serenity and peace. It’s one of our most favorite incense resin!
Key Benefits of Indian Dammar:
Fragrance: fresh, sweet, and balsamic
Properties: extremely purifying and cleansing, protecting
How to Burn Dammar Resin:
Light the charcoal with matches or lighter for about 20 seconds until it self-ignites. Use tongs to hold it up (never hold it with your fingers alone or you might get burned). Place the lit charcoal in a bowl or any incense burner. The bowl or incense burner should be filled with sand or dirt. Let the charcoal warm for a few minutes. (It turns gray around the edges when it is ready) Now you are ready! Add a small amount of dammar resin on top of the charcoal. The dammar resin will burn and soon release essential, aromatic oils through the smoke. Continue to place resins or powder on charcoal as they burn out and smoke decreases for a continuous burn.

Almost no smell when not burned, but light and pleasant one when burned
