Hericium erinaceus – Lion’s Mane
Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus) is a dietary mushroom that can be a supplement. It appears to be a promising cognitive enhancer and immunomodulator (thought to stimulate or suppress inflammation depending on context).
Lion’s Mane: a culinary insider’s tip, because its taste reminds with an extremely wide spectrum of aromas of seafood with a citrus note. Lion’s Mane has been cultivated in China for a long time since it was also used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is a wound parasite of old deciduous trees, especially oak, beech and fruit trees. It can be found on lying trunks, still standing trunks as well as on tree stumps. Its appearance is also unmistakable: its imposing fruiting body is covered with white to cream-coloured soft spines.
